Monday & Wednesday Lotto

Twice-weekly draws with solid prizes and the same 6-from-45 format as Saturday Lotto

About the Game

Monday and Wednesday Lotto is essentially the mid-week cousin of Saturday Lotto. The format is identical — 6 numbers from 45, with 2 supplementary balls — but the prize pools tend to be smaller. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Smaller pools mean fewer players chasing them, so the odds of being a sole Division 1 winner can actually be better on a per-draw basis.

The game is popular with regular players who like having multiple draws each week without the higher ticket costs of games like Powerball or Oz Lotto. It's a low-key option that flies a bit under the radar compared to its flashier siblings.

How It Works

Select 6 numbers from 1 to 45 per game. In the draw, 6 winning numbers and 2 supplementary numbers are selected from a single barrel. Match all 6 main numbers for Division 1.

Entry options mirror Saturday Lotto:

  • Standard — 6 numbers per game, manual or Quick Pick
  • System — choose 7 to 20 numbers for expanded coverage
  • Syndicate — share a system entry with other players

Ticket prices are comparable to Saturday Lotto. A single game runs about $0.75–$0.85 depending on which state or territory you're in.

Draw Schedule

As the name gives away, draws happen on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 8:30pm AEST. Entries close at approximately 7:25pm AEST on each draw day.

There's no daylight saving adjustment to the AEST time. If you're in a state that observes daylight saving, that makes it 9:30pm local time during summer.

Prize Divisions and Odds

The game has 6 divisions, identical in structure to Saturday Lotto. The mathematical odds are the same — 1 in 8,145,060 for Division 1. Prize amounts tend to be smaller because the total pool is lower.

Division Match Required Odds (approx.)
16 main numbers1 in 8,145,060
25 main + 1 or 2 supplementary1 in 678,755
35 main numbers1 in 36,689
44 main numbers1 in 733
53 main + 1 or 2 supplementary1 in 297
61 or 2 main + 2 supplementary1 in 144

Division 1 typically sits around $1 million for Monday and Wednesday draws. Not life-changing in the same way as Powerball, but a million dollars is still a million dollars. It goes a fair way.

Why Play Monday & Wednesday Lotto?

A few reasons this game has its fans:

  • Lower ticket cost per game than the weekend draws
  • Two extra chances each week to win
  • Same odds as Saturday Lotto but typically fewer entries per draw
  • The game doesn't get the same hype, so some players find it a calmer experience
  • Division 1 prizes may not jackpot as high, but they're still significant sums
  • Syndicate options keep costs down further

Good to Know

Monday and Wednesday Lotto are treated as separate draws. A ticket for Monday doesn't carry over to Wednesday — you need a separate entry for each. The branding varies by state: in Queensland it's "Gold Lotto," in Victoria it's "Lotto," and so on. Same game, different label.

Results are published after each draw on The Lott's website and at retail outlets. Many players set up online accounts that check results automatically and credit prizes directly — saves the hassle of checking tickets in person.
